Kelly Clarkson hadn't had much luck trying to break into the music biz. Kelly Clarkson was ready to give up when her best friend, Jessica, convinced her to try out for American Idol. Kelly Clarkson out-shone over 10,000 other contestants to become the first American Idol.Kelly Clarkson moved to LA before auditioning for American Idol to try and get discovered but her apartment building burned down and she was forced to move back home.
